“Lamb of God…ever…lowly” (LSB 434). Who wants a lowly God? Should God be big and powerful and impressive? The sinful world thinks so, but the Lord confounds human expectations by appearing in humility: born in a barn, with no place to lay His head, shamefully nailed to the tree. He is God so He has no need to prove Himself. His suffering love draws us away from our prideful self-worship to praise the lowly Lamb of God held before our eyes in Philippians 2:5-11.
