Christ’s Resurrection Means That We Will One Day Be Raised
“Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed” (1 Cor. 5:7). By the shed blood of Christ, the Lamb of God, eternal death has passed over us. Now we pass with Christ through death into life everlasting. For Christ the crucified One is risen! The stone has been rolled away from the tomb, revealing that the tomb could not hold Him (Mark 16:1–8). Now our Redeemer lives eternally to save us from sin and Satan and the grave, and we can live in the sure hope of our own bodily resurrection with Christ. “After my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God” (Job 19:26). Feasting on the living Christ, who is our meat and drink indeed, we boldly say: “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? . . . But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor. 15:54–55, 57).

🕊️ Purpose & Focus
The Easter Morning Service is a liturgical, joy-filled worship service celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ, central to Christianity. It proclaims the certainty of salvation, Christ’s victory over death, and the promise of eternal life through faith in Him.
📅 When & Where
Date/Time: Sunday, April 5, 2026 | 10:30 AM – 11:45 AM
Location: Christ Lutheran Church, Mustang, Oklahoma
📖 Structure of Worship
While the exact order can vary from year to year, the service includes these elements:
1. Opening Liturgy
A traditional Lutheran liturgical opening with invocation, confession and absolution, and an Easter greeting (“Christ is risen!” / “He is risen indeed!”).
The liturgy follows historic forms drawn from the Lutheran Service Book, emphasizing God’s grace and forgiveness.
2. Scripture Readings
Several key biblical texts are read that focus on resurrection and hope:
Job 19:23–27 – Job’s confident declaration of a living Redeemer.
1 Corinthians 15:51–57 – Paul’s proclamation of victory over death through Christ.
Mark 16:1–8 – The empty tomb and the announcement of the risen Lord.
3. Sermon
A resurrection sermon rooted in these texts, underscoring:
The historical reality of Jesus’ rising from the dead.
The implications of His victory for believers: new life, hope, and assurance of salvation.
Salvation by grace through faith.
4. Hymns and Music
Music plays an important role, with traditional and festive Easter hymns sung by the congregation and choir, accompanied by organ, piano, and/or brass instruments. Typical hymns include:
“I Know That My Redeemer Lives”
“Jesus Christ Is Risen Today”
5. Holy Communion (Lord’s Supper)
The service includes the Lord’s Supper, celebrated in the Lutheran understanding of the real presence of Christ in the bread and wine. This sacrament reinforces the connection to Christ’s death and resurrection and the blessings given to believers. (To view Christ Lutheran’s beliefs and practices on Holy Communion please view our “What We Believe” page)
6. Closing
The service concludes with a blessing and dismissal, sending worshippers out with Easter joy to live as Easter people.
