Easter Son-Rise
At Christ Lutheran Church in Mustang, Oklahoma, the Easter Son-Rise Service is a cherished tradition that joyfully celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Held at 7:00 AM on Easter Sunday, this service symbolizes the transition from darkness to light, reflecting Christ's victory over death.
Key Elements of the Service:
Scripture Readings: Passages such as Isaiah 25:6–9, which speaks of God's promise to abolish death, and John 20:1–18, recounting Mary Magdalene's encounter with the risen Christ, are read to emphasize the fulfillment of God's salvation plan.
Sermon: The message focuses on the significance of the resurrection, highlighting themes of new life and hope, emphasizing that Christ’s victory over sin, death, and the devil is complete and certain.
Holy Communion: The congregation partakes in the Lord's Supper, reflecting on Christ's sacrifice and the new covenant established through His resurrection.
Hymns and Music: Traditional Easter hymns are sung, celebrating the joy of the resurrection, such as "Jesus Christ Is Risen Today." The church's choir also sings a few anthems.
