Curse of Death (Genesis 2:17; 3:19): God warned Adam that eating the forbidden fruit would bring death (Gen. 2:17). After the Fall Adam is told he will return to dust (Gen. 3:19). Death and mortality entered human experience. Christ’s victory reverses this curse: by His resurrection He “gives life to whom He will” (John 5:21), and Paul says “in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive”. The final remedy is promised in Revelation: “no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Rev. 21:4). Thus the curse of death from Genesis is undone – believers are raised to eternal life and ultimately “swallowed up in victory” (1 Cor. 15:54–57).
