(Genesis 3:22–24): After Adam and Eve’s sin, God drove them from the Garden and barred access to the Tree of Life. “He banished the man…to guard the way to the tree of life” (Gen. 3:24). In Revelation this curse is ultimately reversed: the faithful are promised access to the Tree of Life (e.g. Rev. 2:7 “I will give the right to eat from the tree of life”). In other words, Christ’s redemptive work restores what was lost in Eden. As 1 Corinthians 15:22 puts it, “in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive”, and Revelation 22:2–14 pictures the Tree of Life bearing healing fruit for those redeemed, removing the ban from Genesis 3.
