This Advent, Christ Lutheran gathers on Wednesday evenings for vespers, a short service of prayer, psalms, Scripture and hymns. This year’s series, “Romance, Redemption, Ruth,” walks through the Book of Ruth: a widow from Moab, a family left with nothing, and a relative named Boaz who steps in to redeem what was lost. It’s a short book about loyalty, kindness and a love that keeps its promises. It also points ahead to Jesus, Ruth’s descendant, who came to redeem us. Services are at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Dec. 2, 9 and 23. All are welcome.
