Christ Lutheran Church to hold a late-evening Divine Service at 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, 2026.
MUSTANG, Okla. — October 28, 2026 — Christ Lutheran Church will hold a candlelight Divine Service with Holy Communion at 10 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, at 501 N. Clear Springs Road, Mustang. The late-evening service brings Christmas Eve to a close.
Rooted in the ancient church, the service follows the historic liturgy, which conveys God’s grace to believers. Readings include the promise of a child born to us from Isaiah 9, the Nativity story from Luke 2 and the opening of John 1, “The Word became flesh.” The congregation will sing favorite Christmas hymns such as “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “Joy to the World” and “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing.” The service will end with “Silent Night” by candlelight.
The center of the service is the Sacrament of the Altar, in which, as Lutherans confess, Jesus gives His true body and blood for the forgiveness of sins. It is a constant and true reminder of God’s love for us, especially as we celebrate the Christ-child who came to save us and give us eternal life.
“‘The reason for the season’ is a cliché, but it is true. Our Holy Communion service centers on God’s love poured out for all peoples through His Son, Jesus. We are celebrating Christmas because of the joy the good news brings to our lives. This service grounds us in the ‘reason for the season’ as a last reminder before our families celebrate Christmas,” said the Rev. Daniel Ross, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church.
All are welcome to attend. To learn about Christ Lutheran’s practice of Holy Communion, visit christlutheranmustang.org/whatwebelieve or speak with Pastor Ross before the service. Parking is on the east and south sides of the building.
