Community invited to one of the most popular services of the year on Thursday, December 24, 2026.
MUSTANG, Okla. — October 27, 2026 — Christ Lutheran Church will celebrate Christmas Eve with its Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 24, at 501 N. Clear Springs Road, Mustang. Because the pews fill up quickly, members and visitors from Mustang, Yukon, Tuttle and the greater Oklahoma City area are encouraged to arrive about 30 minutes early to find a seat. Overflow seating will be set up in the Fellowship Hall. All are welcome to this Christmas celebration. Parking is on the east and south sides of the building.
The Service of Nine Lessons and Carols tells the story of salvation through nine Scripture readings, from the Fall in the Garden of Eden in Genesis to the promise of a Savior and the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem in the Gospels. Between the readings, the congregation will sing classic Christmas carols and listen to music from the choir. This service is the recounting of God coming to dwell with His creation. In it, God tells His story in His own words, and the congregation answers in song.
“During this season it is easy to get really busy, to get caught up in all the hustle and bustle and distractions. The Lessons and Carols service offers people a chance to re-center themselves on what the whole celebration is about. Everyone loves belting out their favorite Christmas song or listening to the choir selection. And ending with ‘Silent Night’ in candlelight gives individuals and families a moment of reflective calm and peace,” said the Rev. Daniel Ross, pastor of Christ Lutheran Church.
