Shepherd Soup Christmas Eve Thank You
Christ Lutheran Church shares Christ’s love with those serving the community on Christmas Eve
Mustang, Oklahoma — Members of Christ Lutheran Church in Mustang continued a meaningful Christmas Eve tradition this year through their Shepherd Soup Christmas Eve Thank You outreach, offering encouragement, gratitude, and the message of Christ’s love to community members working during the holiday.
On December 18, a group of eight volunteers gathered at the church to assemble 120 Shepherd Soup gift bags. Supplies for the project were made possible through generous funding from Thrivent Financial, allowing the congregation to fully resource the outreach.
On Christmas Eve, members of the church’s Evangelism Board, along with their spouses and friends from the congregation, delivered the gift bags throughout the Mustang area. Recipients included local fire stations, the Mustang Police Department, urgent care facilities, staff at two hospitals, Sand Sage of the Highlands, Arbor House, a behavioral treatment center, as well as employees at area convenience stores, hotels, and motels.
The outreach was intentionally focused on individuals who were unable to be with family or attend worship services on Christmas Eve because they were serving others. From first responders and healthcare workers to service staff caring for travelers and residents, each recipient received a tangible expression of gratitude and the good news of Christ’s birth.
“Shepherd Soup is a way to share Jesus’ love on the night He was born with those who cannot go to church due to working to serve our community,” a church representative shared. “Sharing God’s holy love is paramount to who we are as Christians.” - Pastor Ross.
Christ Lutheran Church extends sincere thanks to all who participated in and supported this project. The congregation prays that God will continue to bless this outreach and guide future opportunities to share His love with the wider community.
